Warwick Foundations Guinness World Record
attempt. The Warwick Foundation is the first and only Non-Profit Charitable Organisation in Australia focusing on supporting young adults (18-40 years) on their cancer journey.
EQUALLY as glamorous as a film premiere, but held at a very different venue, was Saturday's Guinness World Record attempt for the ''Most People Running in High Heeled Shoes'', a fund-raiser for young adults with cancer, which was run at the Whitten Oval in Footscray.
Organised by the Warwick Foundation, participants - regardless of gender - were required to wear proper high heels of at least 2.75 inches (6.9 centimetres), and no wider than 0.6 inches at the tip. Platforms and wedges were not permitted.
For local drag act the Manly Sisters, this was not a problem, although some blokes found the 80-metre course tough going, and there were some spills.
Sadly, the record attempt was unsuccessful - it remains with Italy, who recorded 279 people running in heels - but the event raised more than $20,000 for the charity, not to mention some eyebrows.
